About Us

Dr. Michael Geist

Dr. Michael Geist

Dr. Michael Geist opened PromptCare, Lawrence's first full service urgent care in 1994 after having practiced emergency medicine in Lawrence and Topeka for many years.

He wanted to provide the people of Lawrence and surrounding areas a place to get great care from a physician, without an appointment, seven days a week. He believed that healthcare could stay local, that you didn't have to be a big hospital system or corporation to take care of people's urgent healthcare needs. Some illnesses and injuries need the ER, but most acute problems could be managed outside the hospital, in a more convenient, more personal setting.

Through the years, PromptCare has added many services, like physical therapy, occupational health and additional lab and x-ray capabilities. But more than 20 years later, with Dr. Geist's leadership, we are still always physician staffed and still locally owned and operated.
